Living Slowly and Learning Mexico One Day at a Time
Through this journey, I’ll be sharing the places worth wandering, the food you absolutely need to try, hidden corners most people miss, and the real stories that make Mexico unforgettable.
Hi, I’m Diego Torres!
I was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and am currently living in Oaxaca City, Mexico. Growing up, I was never great at listening or sitting still. My mind was always somewhere else, probably already halfway packed for the next trip. So weekends and holidays automatically meant road trips or family vacations. That ritual didn’t stop once I moved out. If anything, it got louder. The road trips just switched from family to friends, and sometimes even to random people I met through travel groups.
Along the way, I picked up a camera and never really put it down. What began as snapping photos on road trips slowly turned into a full-time job. I started freelancing and taking on travel assignments, building a portfolio.
Now that my job gives me the freedom to work from anywhere, I finally decided to visit the countries that had been sitting on my wish list for years and explore them slowly, one by one. So here I am in Mexico, spending my days wandering colorful streets and chasing the perfect shot with my camera, and my nights editing photos, trying new food, and swapping stories with the locals.
